Alderbrook Winery

This article is one in a series of articles about our recent tour of California Wine Country. You can read about Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, the Summary, the Winery Dogs and the Restaurants as well.

The Alderbrook winery lies just outside the city on the south end of Healdsburg.  The tasting room is a pleasant farm house style building surrounded by vineyards.  They are best known for their Zinfandels and Russian River Pinot Noirs, but they also produce Syrahs, Carignane, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.  We started out with the Carignane, and then moved on to the Confluence, a blend of Zinfandel and Syrah, before ending the tasting with a trio of Zinfandels.  Of course, we finished up with a Port.

Wines sampled:
2005 Dry Creek Valley Carignane
2005 Dry Creek Valley Confluence, 60% Zinfandel, 40% Syrah
2005 Dry Creek Valley Old Vine Zinfandel (their signature wine)
2005 Dry Creek Valley Three Goose Zinfandel
Estate Zinfandel – the inaugural wine from the vineyard at the winery.
